Red Head!

For years I have wanted to be a 'Titian Red' (hair); Joe, my husband, persueded me to buy a hair colour in good old Superdrug (or Superdrunk, as my little boy once called it!)  I thought I might look like Rita Heyworth (!!!), iconic 1940s/50s starlet, but I fear I look more like Rita Fairclough, the newsagent lady from Coronation Street..........a girl can dream!

Boxed People...

I have been making something a bit different with these boxed folk; I had some of them at a Brighton Open house.  I like making them as each one is different and 'forms' as I go along; but it is proving quite hard to source boxes/frames at a reasonable cost.  I quite like the fact that they all long a bit dis-interested in life!!

I 'Heart' Yellow!

Have finally got most of our hallway decorated, with the usual, and expected amount of i) arguing, ii) children fiddling and iii) paint spill!!  Never mind.  Thought I'd show you the little piece of vintage fabric curtain/window treatment (hate that term), that has taken me five weeks to make....ta dah!  Oh yes, and it's yellow, my favourite 'home' colour of the moment.

Good Bye!

This pair are off to Australia, (photographed in one of my favourite chairs!)  It's amazing to think this parcel is travelling to the other side of the world, thanks Etsy!  What on earth did we do before internet shopping...

Is it wrong to fancy a face on a cushion.......??

Knick-knacks...

We have just had our boiler replaced; very dull I know, but what this (very expensive) exercise has done is left  us with a 'free wall'!!  I say 'us' but really I mean 'me', the plumber had barely got out the front door, dust not settled, than I was measuring and planning what could occupy the space.  More pictures, more hooky-type-things, randomly attached post cards using washi tape....  I have decided on a new home/display shelf for my ever expanding wooden 'knick-knacks' (as me, my mother and friend Mr S likes to call them).  Ah, the joy of it all, just off to the flea market as we speak......Have a good weekend!

Retro Fabric

I ordered some really great fabric from Summersville, on Etsy.  I have been looking for a cross-hatch type of fabric with a retro feel.  The quality is really good; I am going to order more colours.  I have a few things I am planning to use them for!

Green Spectacles!

Here are a couple of pictures of an order due to go out tomorrow, to the lovely Appendage in Brighton's North Lanes.  I can't seem to stop putting spectacles on my ladies!!  (Or mustaches on my men, come to that!)

New Design Ideas and Flowers Galore!

I have been trying out some new simple flower designs; for prints or textiles, not sure yet!  It was with this in mind I realised just how much flora is used in design.  I personally LOVE floral patterns from the 1950s and 1960s, I especially like quite kitsch rose and carnation images.  I have a cut-out somewhere of someones fridge completely covered in rose pictures and postcards, I really would love to recreate it on my own!  Perhaps when the children are older, too tempting for little hands to peal them off!  Here are some random images from around my home...

Happy Fathers Day...

I was happy to see some of my cards when out and about today.  Have a great day, dads and all...

1970s Fabric Finds...

I had some good finds today in a Hospice shop, just tucked away enough that not everybody knows about it!  A whole batch of St. Micheal 1970s duvet covers, sheets, pillow cases and bed cover.  I will use some of it for tea cosy linings, but I am really coveting that Selina Lake, Homespun Style look, and plan to re-create a bit of it at home!!  Her new book is so inspirational; I am bidding on some vintage wall papers as we speak...

New Baby Card for a Friend!

A little card I made for some friends new baby.  Lisa and Ed run their own very successful card company; a bit silly in hind-sight to make their card!  The little vintage rabbit button came from a hand knitted babies cardi I got from a charity shop for 20p.  A big congratulations...

Yay, I've done it!!

After much cursing and frustration, I've finally set up my long overdue Blog (and business Facebook page and Etsy store and website!). Celebrations all round!  Watch this space...
