Doodle-Bug!

I have been doing a bit of 'doodling' at the moment.  Quite a nice thing to do, just having a play!  It was the children's air-drying clay that set me off.  One grey afternoon I thought, 'Hey let's have a creative play/Martha Stewart moment...'  Out came all the collected lids and cutters and general plastic tat saved for such an occassion.  It lasted a whole 7 minutes before meltdown.  Why is it they always prefer TV and a packet of pickled onion Monster Munch!!  Anyway, not to be put off, now I had cut out a number of clay rounds from a milk bottle top...

Button Card Dolls...

I will be taking part in a really lovely open house in May, as part of the Brighton Festival.  (More details nearer the time.)  I thought it might be nice to do some smaller/lower priced items that people can buy and that have my details on, for potential further, maybe larger, sales.  Most people use cards for this purpose, but as I have a mountain of colourful buttons I thought I would make some button cards.

Cheers!

Went out to a lovely friends Birthday drinks last night.  As I have n't been out much I made her a little present.  I have had these blank match boxed for ages. I added a little face, and covered and decorated the outside of the box.  (Similar to an idea I first saw by the talented www.kimwelling.com)  The lavender bag is part printed, then hand drawn.  It's the thought that counts, apparently...

I Heart Ponystep Magazine!

I really love this super-cool fashion/style mag.  I particularly love these pictures of more 'mature' models wearing designer in the SS/12 issue.  Brilliant, something to inspire to...  www.ponystep.com Issue 4 out now.

New Hair!

When I visit my consultant tomorrow to see if I can come out of my leg-brace contraption, I will omit to tell him how, on day two of my recovery, my husband drove me to the hair dressers in the snow!!  Why is it once you have the idea for a new haircut, you need it NOW...

Mr & Mrs

I am still in my rather attractive leg brace and crutches, so have not been able to do too much.  I have however, managed to finish these cushions for a friend to give as a wedding present.  I have also been working on some new ideas which I am excited about!  It has been very frustrating, but somehow also quite invigorating being 'laid-up'.  I am keen to get back to work and get making again; idle hands and all that!  I hope they like them...

Well Hello Dolly...

I have not posted for a while, as I am due to have a knee operation tomorrow and needed to get everything sorted pre-op.  I am really not sure how I will cope with not being mobile!
Anyway, this post is really overdue.  I wanted to share this talented makers work with you.  I recieved this lovely doll for Valentines Day from my husband, via Etsy and the clever Rebekah McMullan www.forgottenstitches.etsy.com .  I am partial to a dolly and absolutely loved her; I had her in my 'favourites' for a while.  She has a gorgeous 1950's out-fit on, complete with a beret and merino wool hair.  She officially sits on the back of my sofa, along with a Sarah Young Bertha tea-towel/doll, and a boxed dolly, one of mine.  My little girl keeps stealing her to sit with her dollies too!
